Life’s Way

We all look for the way to the end

the easy way

the hard way

it doesn’t matter

grabbing at paths lost in the fog of consciousness

blinded by insight

and fooled by our own cleverness

we jest with fate and ask nothing of destiny

yet we cry out loud when thoughts grow against us in the lighted rooms

hopeless triumph follows our misguided trek through ancient bonds of slavery

locked into the misty patterns we call freedom

yet blind and staggering we smile at loss

fragile whispers drag us under with a simple wet lick

grab it now

ride the bull

glory and failure wait their turns
